Memex — Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Memex (the “Service”), a browser extension and companion service operated by the publisher of api.getmemex.app (“we”, “us”). By installing the extension or creating an account you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Memex helps you index, organise, search and ask questions across your own AI chat conversations on supported sites (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity). The Service is provided “as is”; supported features and supported sites may change over time.
2. Accounts
An account is required for features that sync data across devices, use AI features routed through our servers, or carry a paid subscription. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or abuse the Service.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or the Terms of any AI provider whose site Memex interacts with;
- Attempt to bypass quotas, rate limits, billing, or access controls;
- Resell, sublicense, or run the Service as a hosted product for third parties without a separate written agreement;
- Reverse engineer the Service for purposes other than your personal interoperability needs to the extent allowed by law;
- Submit content that infringes others’ rights, that is unlawful, or that you do not have the right to submit.
4. Subscriptions, billing and refunds
Paid plans (currently Starter, Pro, Power) are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the extension (Settings → Manage subscription) or by contacting us; access remains until the end of the current period and no further charge is made.
Because the Service is delivered immediately upon subscription, fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law or at our discretion. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days and we will review the case.
Prices, plan limits and included features may change. Material changes to a plan you are subscribed to will be announced at least 14 days in advance, and you may cancel before the change takes effect.
5. AI-generated output
Some features call third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google). AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete or biased; you are responsible for reviewing it before relying on it. We do not warrant the accuracy of any AI-generated content.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the data you index with Memex. You grant us a limited licence to host, process and transmit that data solely to operate the Service for you (including routing it to the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy). We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not sell it.
7. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. You can permanently delete your account and associated server-side data from Settings → Delete account; local IndexedDB data is removed when you uninstall the extension or use “Clear all data”. We can terminate or suspend the Service for any account that breaches these Terms or that we reasonably suspect of fraud or abuse.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or use, arising out of or related to the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of France. Any dispute will be brought before the competent courts of that jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent change. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
